Nice to see an old photo of Aldwark Bridge in the gallery. My Grandad and Grandma lived in the little cottage next to the gate for many years until Grandad died in 1950. My Dad was brought up there with his 4 Brothers and Sisters.

My ancestor, Charles Jewitt, came from Great Ouseburn in 1830. Tracing his family and trying to locate his parents, George Jewitt and Susan Gatenby. Anyone know where the burial records are kept?

Thank you!

:-) Hi Helen
The best people to contact are Boroughbridge Community Care http://www.riponcvs.co.uk/boroughbridge%20co...(bcc)
They operate a local voluntary car and minibus transport service amongst other things and can be contacted on 01423 324504.
There is a bus service to Boroughbridge as well http://www.harrogatecoachtravel.com/service-...
and a bookable service called The Little Red Bus http://www.littleredbus.co.uk/harrogate/harr...
The local Private hire taxis companies are 4 Wheels 01423 325000 and A& B Cars 01423 422251.
Hope this helps.
Keith

I lived in Great Ouseburn in the late sixties at what used to be the infirmary at the workhouse, then the workers cottages for Campbell and Pentys. I went to school in the village. Although still very young, I do remember Mr Swans blacksmiths, and most of the childeren from the school circa 1967

Have just been looking at the page for the Football Club, and see that it states that it was formed in 2002, and settled in its new home on the playing fields.
I played for Ouseburn when it was formed in 1963 until fracturing a femur in 1964, and as far as I know the Club was active throughout the 60's and 70's and perhaps later. Players at that time included Mick and Graham Gudgeon, Toby Burrell, Gerald Holmes, Mick Whitton, Steve Coupland Alf Arter and others.
